The Ivie N’Ovbiedo Ne Khien Yowa project was designed to advance the rights, dignity, and access to essential services for LBTI women, women living with HIV/AIDS, women living with disabilities, and young and adolescent girls living in peri-urban settlements in Edo State.

MHSR strengthened community and stakeholder engagement by convening flagship stakeholder meetings with traditional and religious leaders and other key actors. The project also trained 30 community champions and ambassadors to promote awareness, advocacy, and community-level action on GBV and women’s rights.

The project conducted a policy review of Edo State’s GBV framework, generating evidence to strengthen advocacy and policy engagement. MHSR also successfully engaged the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Edo State, as Patron of the project, strengthening government ownership and high-level support for advancing the rights and protection of marginalized women and girls.

The project covers Egor, Oredo, and Ikpoba-Okha LGAs of Edo State, using a community-led, rights-based approach to promote GBV prevention, access to justice, dignity, inclusion, and improved protection and wellbeing for women and girls in their diversities.
