Since receiving the Raffaele Mastro Award – African Best Activist, Ozo Osahon Michael’s journey has been rooted in one mission: to advance health equity and human dignity for Black immigrant communities in Italy and across Europe.
Through the Mobile Foundation for Health Security and Rehabilitation [MHSR], this program focuses on sensitizing the international community to the unique health challenges faced by Black immigrants — from barriers to access to culturally competent care and mental health support.
Impact & Achievements:
– Advocacy & Sensitization: Amplifying the voices of Black immigrants in policy and health spaces, starting with award-winning activism that brought international attention to gaps in health interventions.
– Education & Training: Delivering lectures, workshops, and capacity-building sessions across Italian intervention communities, universities, and hospital networks to equip professionals with tools for inclusive healthcare delivery.
– Collaboration for Solutions: Partnering with local institutions, community leaders, and healthcare providers to co-design lasting solutions that improve health outcomes and prevent future disparities.
The goal is simple: health systems that see, serve, and protect everyone.
By bridging grassroots community work with academic and hospital collaboration, we are building pathways to better health, stronger communities, and a more just future for Black immigrants in Italy and Europe.
